For followers of Christ, entanglement risks not only harm but a drift from the Gospel’s core. Clear-eyed discernment is encouraged, with a focus on scriptural tensions, operational realities, and radicalization perils. It encourages believers to act faithfully rather than act fleetingly.
When confronting wrong, the Scripture emphasizes love, restraint, and trust in God’s order as a blueprint. Jesus commands, “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,” which is a directive that transforms hearts rather than crushes opposition (Matthew 5:44). Antifa’s confrontational style, marked by masked protests and physical standoffs, echoes the very divisions it seeks to break down. Consider Romans 13:1-7 where Paul instructs submission to authorities ordained by God.
Due to Antifa’s anarchist leanings, which view the state as intrinsically oppressive, it rejects this framework in favor of disruption rather than dialogue. Despite affirming anti-fascism as a moral imperative within Christianity, progressive Christian voices emphasize non-violent fidelity, as Dorothy Day’s legacy of peaceful advocacy illustrates. The secular roots of Antifa, however, emphasize class struggle over repentance, thereby ignoring the Gospel’s power to transform societies.
As a result of its rhetoric, believers may unwittingly elevate human revolution above divine sovereignty, a subtle idolatry that undermines spiritual vitality.

Proverbs 21:15 declares that true justice rejoices the upright heart; however, Antifa’s shadow often obscures this light, leading its adherents into moral ambiguity.
Radicalization poses the greatest threat, transforming righteous anger into unchecked fury. It begins innocently, with online forums amplifying grievances against systemic sin, but spirals through echo chambers into dehumanizing binaries through echo chambers. Despite the presidential order designating Antifa as a terrorist organization in September, the ideological pull remains, ensnaring vulnerable individuals in a destructive cycle.

For the authority is God’s servant for your welfare. However, if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not carry a sword without good cause. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to punish wrongdoers. Therefore, it is imperative that you submit to the authorities not only for fear of punishment, but also for conscience reasons.
This is also why you pay taxes, for authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. Give everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor. By staying true believers illuminate hope amid turmoil, advancing God’s redemptive work without compromise.
