Tomorrow Never Comes Until It Is Too Late

James 4:14 says, “You don’t know what tomorrow brings. For you are a mist that appears for a few minutes and then vanishes.” This is an important verse because tomorrow is so uncertain. We often assume that we have endless days to make things right-whether it’s seeking forgiveness, pursuing holiness, or sharing the Gospel-but Scripture warns us that life is fragile and brief. If you wait for the perfect time to act, you may miss out on opportunities, since tomorrow isn’t guaranteed.

The parable of the rich fool in Luke 12:16-21 is an excellent illustration of this. The rich fool plans to build bigger barns for his wealth, saying, “I’ll relax, eat, drink, and be merry.” God calls him a fool, saying, “This night your soul will be required of you.” He doesn’t realize how important it is to prepare his soul for eternity because he is confident in tomorrow. You’ll regret it when it’s too late if you put earthly desires before spiritual readiness.

In Proverbs 27:1, we are told not to boast about tomorrow, because we don’t know what tomorrow holds. Holding off on spiritual matters can come from pride or distraction, We are all in control. We need to repent now (Acts 17:30), seek God (Isaiah 55:6), and obey His commandments (John 9:4). It’s risky to delay obedience, and Hebrews 3:13 warns: “Exhort one another every day, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.

Jesus’ return further amplifies this urgency. He says in Matthew 24:44, “The Son of Man is coming at an hour you don’t expect.” It’s impossible to predict His return, so we need to be ready now. The thief on the cross who repented in his final moments (Luke 23:42-43) was saved obviously not because he was an honorable person. However, at the end of his life of sin and theft, he accepted and believed Jesus was the Christ. He sincerely asked for forgiveness. The longer you wait, the more likely you are to miss God’s mercy.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 states “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might, for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going.” This call to diligence applies to our spiritual lives. Today is the day to forgive, serve, pray, and trust God. Tomorrow might never come, and then it’ll be too late. Before time runs out, join me and embrace God’s grace. If I wrong, I lose nothing to those who don’t repent. If I am right you will lose everything. No matter who you are, what you have done, or how horrible your crimes may be. God will accept and love you no matter what.

If you are ready to receive salvation’s free gift pray with me now.

Lord Jesus, I want to have a personal relationship with You. I know that I am a sinner and I believe You died on the cross for my sins. It is now that I turn from those sins and put my faith in You as my Lord and Savior, my God and friend. Thank you for hearing this prayer. I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
