Spread the love

Sad But True

Sadly the title, “There will be good people in hell,” is a tragically factual statement. People you see every week at church, pastors, missionaries, even sweet old ladies who make cookies and never hurt anybody will go to Hell.

The reason is not that they were terrible people by our standards. However is it by our standards that we are judged? Or on the day of judgement will it be by God’s standard that you are judged by?

Paul tells us God’s standard is perfection. (Ephesians 2:8-9) reminds us that man is saved by grace alone. ”For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves. It is God’s gift not by works, so no one can boast.”

Another example of how we fall short of God’s perfection is Romans 3:9-20: “There is no one righteous—no, not one. There is no one who understands, no one who seeks after God.” This is true for all of us myself included. We, as a fallen species, can never reach God’s standard. That is why our Lord needed to come down to suffer and die to be our redeemer.

The Difficult Question

It is not the first time I have heard the question. If God loves all his children, why would he condemn anyone to Hell? The truth is God doesn’t condemn anybody to Hell. He gives us all the choice whether to follow him or not, for example. You have a child who wants nothing to do with you. Would you force them to be with you? All you can do is love them and hope they come home. God doesn’t want anyone to be sent to Hell. That one is all on us.

When it comes to salvation and damnation ignorance is no excuse. Jesus tells us plainly what it takes to be saved in John 14:6 “I am the way the truth and the life.” No man shall come to the Father except through me.” The only way to Heaven is to know and believe in all things.

1. Jesus self incarnated and was born to a virgin. He is not half Mary and half God.

2 That Jesus was crucified on the cross to be the final blood sacrifice for our transgressions, and through him alone, we obtain grace.

Falling Short But Going Up

Despite our best efforts, we all fall short of God’s standards; this is why we need Jesus in our lives. Christians are not without fault, and those that think they are will be in for one hell of a shock. The gift of salvation is free. Believing won’t make you flawless, but it will help you be a little better than the day before. We will never attain perfection this side of Heaven.

God Bless and Courage.
